In Light—Songs of Hope, Virtual Concert

Sun, March 28, 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Online Buffalo, NY

Robert Duerr, conductor

The annual lengthening of daylight and the arrival of Spring brings the historical and liturgical commemoration of Holy Week—Jesus Christ’s procession into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), approaching death (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday) and resurrection from the dead (Easter Sunday). This In Light—Song of Hope program includes the glorious choral music of the Renaissance (Gibbons, Gesualdo) and Baroque (Schütz) repertoire, along with three living composers (Judith Bingham, Graham Ross, Cecilia McDowall). They all convey, through text and music, facets of light and hope, as Frank Ticheli’s Earth Song closes the program, “A light of song, shining strong: Alleluia!”

Recorded at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral.

Access begins on Sunday, March 28, 2021, 2:00 pm, and will continue until June 30. Register for free (donations gratefully accepted). A link will be emailed to you before the concert date.

We will send reminder emails with any additional details. Thank you!
